Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Malaysia Meets with the Head of the Diplomatic Protocol Division at the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

His Excellency Mr. Adnan Mhalhal Al Maajoon, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Malaysia, met with His Excellency Ambassador Ikram bin Mohammad Ibrahim, Head of the Diplomatic Protocol Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, in Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia, on Monday, September 21 ^st, 2026.

The meeting began with an exchange of greetings and courtesies, during which His Excellency Ambassador Ikram bin Mohammad extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Excellency Ambassador Al Maajoon on assuming his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to Malaysia, wishing him every success in carrying out his diplomatic responsibilities.

For his part, His Excellency Ambassador Al Maajoon expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Ambassador Ikram bin Mohammad for his kind sentiments and gracious words, while also commending the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to him.

The meeting addressed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and Malaysia, and framework to support and develop joint cooperation in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.

In this regard, His Excellency Ambassador Al Maajoon highlighted the Government of the Republic of Iraq’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Malaysia, particularly in the fields of energy, economy, education, trade and investment, in addition to a number of other vital areas. He affirmed that this approach reflects Iraq’s keenness to further consolidate its relations with Malaysia, enhance the level of bilateral cooperation, and expand the prospects for partnership between the two countries.

His Excellency also commended the role played by the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in supporting the work of diplomatic missions accredited to Malaysia, as well as the cooperation and coordination it provides, which contribute to facilitating their work and strengthening diplomatic engagement.

The two sides also reviewed existing areas of cooperation between the two countries, underscoring the importance of maintaining continued coordination and communication among the relevant authorities in order to further strengthen Iraqi Malaysian relations, support their continued development, and broaden the scope of joint cooperation.

For his part, His Excellency Ambassador Akram bin Mohamed Ibrahim, Head of the Diplomatic Protocol Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, expressed his division’s readiness to continue and further enhance coordination and cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Malaysia, and to provide the necessary assistance and facilitation to support the Embassy in carrying out its duties and contribute to efforts to further advance bilateral relations between the two countries.
