IRAQI EMBASSY’S CHARGE D’AFFAIRES MEETS THE HEAD OF THE CENTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS “PEACE AND SECURITY” IN UKRAINE

On November 2, 2021 Mr. Taan Hussein Abbas Hussein, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine, Minister Plenipotentiary met at the Embassy’s headquarters with Mr. Husameddin Al Halawani Head of the Center of International Relations “ Peace and Security “in Ukraine.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Charge d’Affaires welcomed the Esteemed Guest and reviewed the developments of the political and security situation in Iraq, pointing to the successful parliamentary elections, and the stabilization of security situation, the completion of the return of the displaced persons to their safe areas and providing them with the basic necessities of life. Charge d’Affaires stressed the importance of the role of research and studies centers in addressing the intellectual and psychological effects of the victims of wars and terrorism, emphasizing the need for cooperation between governmental and non-governmental centers in Iraq and Ukraine.

For his part, the Head of the Center of International Relations “ Peace and Security “in Ukraine provided an overview of the nature and objectives of the center and its activities related to participation in local and international conferences, conducting  studies and research on the peace and security issues, focusing attention on analysis of the nature of terrorist and extremist organizations, addressing their ideological effects, and helping civilians affected by their armed operations to return to normal life and integrate into society.

During the meeting, many issues of common interest were also discussed where the need to continue meetings and dialogues between the Embassy and Center of International Relations “Peace and Security“ in Ukraine was stressed.
