IRAQI EMBASSY’S CHARGE D’AFFAIRES MEETS THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF THE FIFTH REGIONAL DEPARTAMENT OF THE MFA OF UKRAINE

On October 12, 2021 Mr. Taan Hussein Abbas Hussein, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine, Minister Plenipotentiary met with Mr. Mykola Nahornyi, Director-General of the Directorate General of the Fifth Regional Department of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine at the Ministry’s headquarters , within the framework of the meetings aimed at getting to know Ukrainian officials and Heads of Foreign Diplomatic Missions accredited to Ukraine.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chargé d’Affaires expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian official, and congratulated Ukraine on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its independence, praising the ties of friendship and cooperation that link Iraq and Ukraine at all levels, including political, economic, trade, agricultural, military, cultural and others. The Chargé d’Affaires also reviewed the developments of the situation in Iraq, in particular the holding of parliamentary elections on October 10, 2021, which are an important event and a great success for the democratic political process taking place in the country.

For his part, Mr. Mykola Nahornyi, welcomed the Chargé d’Affaires, and congratulated him on assuming his important diplomatic post in Ukraine, wishing him good health, and success in performing his new duties. The Ukrainian official also extended his country’s congratulations on the successful parliamentary elections in Iraq, confirming Ukraine’s keenness to develop bilateral relations with Iraq in various fields to serve the common interests of both friendly countries.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Ukraine, Counselor Mr. Abd-Alsalam Monadel Akef Hammudi, and from the Ukrainian side, Mr. Volodymyr Martyniuk, first secretary in the Fifth Regional Department, officer responsible for the relations with the Republic of Iraq.
