IRAQ’S AMBASSADOR TO UKRAINE RECEIVES THE MUFTI OF UKRAINE

On October 21, 2020 His Excellency Mr. Bakir Ahmed Al-Jaff, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine received at the Embassy’s headquarters the delegation of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine, headed by the Grand Mufti of Ukraine Sheikh Ahmad Tamim.

At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Al-Jaff welcomed the Esteemed Delegation, and reviewed the latest developments of the political situation in Iraq, and informed of the ongoing preparations for the parliamentary elections of the Iraqi Parliament Council aiming at consolidation peaceful coexistence among the components of Iraqi people, pointing to the international activities of Iraqi Senior Government officials, among which were the visits of H.E. Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, accompanied by H.E. Mr Fuad Hussein, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq, to French Republic, Federal Republic of Germany and The United Kingdom. H.E. Ambassador also touched upon his recent meeting with H.E. Mrs. Emine Dzhaparova, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which aims to strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation in various fields between Iraq and Ukraine, stressing the importance of the role of the Iraqi, Arab and Muslim communities and their social and religious organizations in Ukraine in deepening love, tolerance and brotherhood among followers of divine religions, calling for caution against the Coronavirus pandemic and adherence to medical guidelines followed in Ukraine.

For his part, His Eminence, Mufti of Ukraine, Sheikh Ahmad Tamim expressed gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Al-Jaff for the warm reception and hospitality, and reviewed the activities of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine and its achievements in different Ukrainian cities, among which are the construction of mosques, Islamic schools and kindergartens for the children of Ukrainian Muslims, and the conduction  of religious activities of an Islamic character, in particular the celebration of the birth of the Prophet, which will be held this year according to the requirements of health prevention measures against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. Sheikh Ahmad Tamim officially invited H.E. Ambassador Al-Jaff to attend the celebration of Mawlid al-Nabi al-Sharif.
