IRAQ’S AMBASSADOR TO UKRAINE MEETS CO-HEAD OF THE DEPUTY GROUP OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE FOR INTER-PARLIAMENTARY RELATIONS WITH THE REPUBLIC OF IRAQ

On July 8, 2020 His Excellency Mr. Bakir Ahmed Al-Jaff, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine met at the Embassy’s headquarters with Co-Head of the Deputy Group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Inter-parliamentary relations with the Republic of Iraq, Deputy Andrii Bohdanets.

 H.E. Mr. Ambassador welcomed the Esteemed Guest and reviewed the most significant developments of the political situation in Iraq, especially after the formation of the new Government headed by Prime Minister Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, and Dr. Fuad Hussein’s assumption of the post of Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq, who stressed in his directives, the need to develop Iraq’s relations with other countries of the world, including Ukraine, in various areas, particularly in the political and economic fields. H.E. Mr. Ambassador touched upon the ongoing preparations for holding new session of the of the Iraqi-Ukrainian Joint Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, headed by His Excellency the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Iraq and His Excellency the Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, expressing his confidence that the upcoming meeting of the Commission would open new perspectives for increasing trade turnover between the two countries. H.E. Ambassador also expressed the Embassy’s readiness to facilitate the visit of Ukrainian companies and businessmen to Iraq, praising the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and its continued cooperation with the Embassy, one of the recent outcomes of which was the conduction of two exceptional flights of the “Iraqi Airways” from Kyiv to Iraq.

For his part, Co-Head of the Deputy Group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Inter-parliamentary relations with the Republic of Iraq, Deputy Bohdanets expressed gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Al-Jaff for the warm reception and hospitality, and highly appreciated the personal contribution of H.E. the Ambassador and Embassy staff  to the development of bilateral relations between Iraq and Ukraine in various fields, particularly in the parliamentary area, stressing his desire to strengthen relations with the Iraqi-Ukrainian Parliamentary Friendship  group, exchange visits between parliamentarians of the two countries, and carry out joint activities in the international forums.
