On May 20, 2019 His Excellency Mr. Bakir Ahmed Al-Jaff, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine attended the ceremony of inauguration and swearing in of the newly elected President of Ukraine His Excellency Mr. Volodymyr Zelensky. The ceremony was held during the solemn session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the presence of Prime minister and members of Government of Ukraine, MPs of Ukraine, as well as senior State officials, former Presidents of Ukraine and former Speakers of the Verkhovna Rada, Kyiv mayor, religious, public, cultural and political figures of Ukraine and Ukrainian and foreign media representatives.
During the official bilateral meeting with the new President of Ukraine in the framework of the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Al-Jaff conveyed the greetings and congratulations of H.E. Dr. Barham Salih, President of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Dr. Adil Abdul-Mahdi, Prime Minister of Iraq and H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ali Alhakim, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq to H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Zelensky on his election and assumption of office as a new President of Ukraine and their wishes for success in fulfilling his presidential responsibilities and for the friendly people of Ukraine continued progress and prosperity, hoping for further development of friendly relations between the two countries.
For his part, H.E. President of Ukraine expressed his gratitude and appreciation to H.E Ambassador Al-Jaff for congratulations on the occasion of his inauguration, wishing the Government and people of Iraq further progress and prosperity, stressing his country’s readiness to develop friendly and cooperative relations with the Republic of Iraq in various fields in the interests of the two friendly countries.
