Iraq’s Ambassador to Ukraine receives the Head of the Deputy Group of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Republic of Iraq

       On May 8, 2019, His Excellency Mr. Bakir Ahmed Al-Jaff, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine received at the Embassy’s headquarters the Head of the Deputy Group of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Republic of Iraq Mr. Igor Lapin in the presence of the Iraqi Military Attaché, Naval staff colonel Mr. Alshawi Atheer Abdulrhada  Jassim.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues relating to Iraqi-Ukrainian relations in the fields of politics, economics and culture, and ways to activate mutual visits between officials of both countries.

Ambassador Al-Jaff stressed the importance of the participation of  Ukrainian companies in the reconstruction process of the Iraqi areas damaged by ‘DAESH’ terrorist gangs, noting that Iraq plays an important role in the region at political, economic and security levels through preserving balanced and friendly relations with all neighbouring countries. For his part, Deputy Igor Lapin expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Al-Jaff for providing a thorough overview  of  bilateral relations between Iraq and Ukraine, hoping for further fruitful cooperation between the two countries in different fields after the parliamentary elections and formation of a new government in Ukraine.
