IRAQI EMBASSY IN UKRAINE COMMEMORATES THE 33rd ANNIVERSARY OF THE “HALABJA” TRAGEDY

On March 16, 2021 the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Ukraine commemorated the 33rd anniversary of the “Halabja” tragedy. The attendees held a minute of silence and recited Surah “Al-Fatiha” in tribute to the martyrs of the nation.

          His Excellency Mr. Bakir Ahmed Al-Jaff, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine delivered a speech on this occasion, in which he recalled the heinous crime of bombing the city of Halabja with internationally banned chemical weapons by the former dictatorial regime, which led to the death of more than 5000 civilians and about 32000 injured, calling on friends and brothers all over the world and International Organizations to adopt this day as a global day against the crimes of genocide, stressing that our beloved Iraqi people stand together with  their National Government to rebuild the country and build a new decent life, based on the principles of democracy with the participation of all fraternal nationalities of Iraq.
