IRAQ’S AMBASSADOR TO UKRAINE ATTENDS THE FORMAL OPENING OF THE THIRD SESSION OF THE NINTH CONVOCATION VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE

On February 4, 2020 His Excellency Mr. Bakir Ahmed Al-Jaff, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine attended the formal opening of the Third session of the Ninth convocation Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian Parliament), held at the Parliament premises. The session was attended by Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Honcharuk with members of the Government, heads of central executive bodies, representatives of public organizations, the mass media and Ukrainian judiciary, Heads of diplomatic missions.

H.E. Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Mr. Dmytro Razumkov opened the session with a speech in which he called on parliamentarians to vote for a number of bills during the new session, stressing the importance of strengthening the legislative and monitoring roles of the parliament.  

On the sidelines of the session H.E. Ambassador Al-Jaff met with the Heads of Arab and Foreign Diplomatic Missions and informed them about the recent developments in Iraq related to the upcoming Iraqi government, assuring that His Excellency President Barham Salih had officially tasked Dr. Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi to form the new government within 30 days, noting that Dr. Allawi in a televised speech pledged to form technocratic government in the coming days, which would be acceptable to both – the political forces and Iraqi people.
