IRAQ’S AMBASSADOR TO UKRAINE MEETS THE NEWLY APPOINTED MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF UKRAINE

On September 10, 2019 His Excellency Mr. Bakir Ahmed Al-Jaff, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine met with the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Vadym Prystaiko. H.E. Mr. Ambassador congratulated H.E. Mr. Prystaiko on assuming the new post and wished him continued success in performing his duties, thereby contributing to the development of the relations between the Republic of Iraq and Ukraine as well as serving the mutual interests of the two friendly peoples. H.E. Ambassador Al-Jaff also stressed the keenness of the Republic of Iraq to strengthen the relations of friendship and cooperation with Ukraine in different areas of common interest and praised the level of the existing cooperation between the Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for the benefit of both countries.

For his part, H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to H.E. Ambassador for his warm congratulations on appointment to the new post and stressed the depth of relations between the two countries, noting his Country’s interest in developing mutual cooperation with the Republic of Iraq in various fields for the benefit of the two friendly nations.

The meeting took place during the working lunch hosted by H.E. the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in honor of the Heads of Foreign Diplomatic Missions accredited to Ukraine who extended their congratulations to His Excellency Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, and was highlighted in the evening news broadcast. 

It is worth mentioning that on August 29, 2019 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian Parliament) approved the appointment of Mr. Vadym Prystaiko to the post of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine among other members of the new Cabinet of Ministers who took the oath of office on the same day. H.E. Mr. Vadym Prystaiko had already hold important state positions prior to his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in particular Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Canada (2012 – 2014); Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief of Staff of the Ministry, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (2014 – 2017); Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO (09.2017 – 08.2019); Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine (05.2019 – 08.2019).
