Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Islamabad receives the Chargé d’ Affairs of Syrian Arab Republic.
H.E. Mr. Hamid Abbas Lafta, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Islamabad, has received, on 1/9/2020, the Chargé d’ Affairs of Syrian Arab Republic to Islamabad, Dr. Mazen Obeid, at the Embassy.
The two sides discussed the situation in Syria, the issue of the recent legislative elections and the resulting cabinet reshuffle, considering this a step towards preserving its stability and unity.
The two sides discussed the issue of Turkish interference in Iraq and incursion into Syria, and the violation of the sovereignty of the two countries, which threatens to ignite more conflicts in the region, while denouncing and rejecting that interference and incursion into violating the sanctity of the two countries, calling for the importance of mobilizing efforts before diplomatic missions around Turkish violations practiced against Iraq and Syria.
They also indicated to the strengthening of joint efforts in combating the terrorist organization “ISIS” in both countries, and the continuous coordination between the Iraqi and Syrian military establishments to eliminate the remnants of this extremist organization.
