Announcement: Implementation of Electronic Appointment System for Consular Services at the Consulate General of the Republic of Iraq in Detroit
The Consulate General of the Republic of Iraq in Detroit extends its warm greetings to all members of the esteemed Iraqi community and announces the adoption of a pre-scheduled electronic appointment system for consular transactions, effective from June 16, 2025. All citizens are encouraged to view the detailed instructional video below, which explains the electronic booking process for consular services.
Regarding the national card ID, the reservation system will be implemented on July 14, 2025. We will inform you later of the reservation instructions and procedures for the national card.
Steps to Book an Electronic Appointment:
Visit the link: https://icass.mofa.gov.iq
Select the mission name: “General Consulate of Iraq – Detroit”
Choose the required consular service type: (General Power of Attorney / Special Power of Attorney / Life Certificates / No Criminal Record Certificates / Certifications / Endorsement Letters / Emergency Travel Document / Birth Certificate and Death Certificate).
Enter your email address and date of birth, then input the verification code sent to your email.
Accurately fill in personal information, address, and contact details.
Confirm the appointment and receive the appointment notification via email.
Important Notes:
* Electronic booking is mandatory; no walk-in services will be accepted without a prior appointment starting from June 16, 2025

* Appointments must be made in the name of the individual requiring the service; each family member must have a separate appointment, even if attending on the same day.
* Arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time with all required documents; ensure the accuracy of entered information to avoid delays.
* Appointments cannot be rescheduled or canceled once confirmed. If you miss your appointment for any reason, you must book a new appointment through the electronic platform.
* Use your own email and personal contact information only; entering information for others may lead to appointment cancellation.
* Booking is free of charge; the service aims to streamline procedures and reduce waiting times.
The Consulate emphasizes that it is not affiliated with any offices, entities, or individuals claiming to represent it or facilitate its transactions. All procedures are conducted solely through official channels.

Electronic Appointment Booking for the National ID Card
The Consulate General of the Republic of Iraq in Detroit extends its warmest greetings to the honorable Iraqi community, and announces the procedure for booking appointments for the National ID card, which will be handled electronically starting from July 14, 2025.
First: Downloading the Software and Completing the Application Form (Same as the previous procedure):
1. Fill out the National ID card application form using the designated software, then save the completed form as a PDF file on your computer.
2. Scan the original documents:
• Iraqi Certificate of Nationality
• Iraqi Civil ID
Save the scans as PDF files.
3. Email the completed application form and scanned documents to the National ID section at:
Second: Obtaining Official Approvals
1. After receiving the email from the citizen, the Consulate General in Detroit will review the submitted form and documents, and forward them to the Ministry of Interior / Directorate of Civil Affairs for official approval.
2. Once approvals are received, the Consulate will publish lists of approved applicants on its official website.
Third: Electronic Appointment Booking After Publishing the Approval Lists
1. Important: Only citizens whose names appear in the published approval lists may proceed with electronic appointment booking. They must attend their scheduled appointment in person, bringing:
• Original documents
• The appointment confirmation that includes the QR code
2. No citizen may book an appointment before their name appears on the official approval lists published by the Consulate.
3. Appointments booked without meeting the above requirements will be canceled.
4. If you have already received your National ID card, you do not need to book another appointment.
The Consulate General in Detroit confirms that it will continue processing applications submitted via the National ID Section’s email. Lists of approved applications and completed ID cards will be published soon on the Consulate’s official website.
Please note that the purpose of the electronic appointment is to ensure that citizens attending the Consulate have already obtained the necessary approvals. Without these approvals, the application cannot be processed.
