Power of attorney
(Requirements for organizing public agencies)
The directives of the Iraqi Ministry of Justice and the Consular Department of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs prohibit the issuance of power of attorney (both general and special) by mail to avoid forgery and impersonation. Therefore, issuing power of attorney requires personal attendance at the consulate building.
Power of attorney are issued according to the controls listed below:
The clint must appear before the consul to verify their identity when issuing a power of attorney.
Bring the original (unified national ID card, electronic personal identification photocopy, or 57 registration photocopy) along with photocopies.
The original civil status ID and a color photocopy for the principal, with the personal photo matching the principal’s photo.
The original Iraqi citizenship certificate and a color photocopy for the principal, with the personal photo matching the principal’s photo.
A clear copy of the civil status ID and nationality certificate (for the agent).
Four recent personal photos (2 x 2 inches with a white background) (for the principal).
Four recent personal photos (2 x 2 inches with a white background) (for the agent).
Financial fees: $30 (cash only) for issuing a general power of attorney.
$20 (cash only) for issuing a life certificate with a written acknowledgment

The original Iraqi citizenship certificate and a color copy for the clint, provided that the personal photo is similar to the principal’s photo.

A clear copy of the civil status ID and nationality certificate (for the agent).
Four (4) recent personal photos (2 x 2) (for the principal with a white background).
Four (4) recent personal photos (2 x 2) (for the agent with a white background).
A copy of the legal certificate and title deed if the power of attorney is issued for the purpose of selling real estate or a plot of land, and a copy of the vehicle registration certificate if the power of attorney is issued for the purpose of selling and driving vehicles.
Financial fees: $10 (cash only) for issuing a special power of attorney. $20 (cash only) for issuing a life certificate and written declaration.
If the applicant has a national identification card, this will suffice for the civil status ID and Iraqi citizenship certificate.
(Requirements for regulating the cancellation of Power of attorney)
This service grants the principal the right to dismiss the agent at any time.
The Power of attorney is canceled according to the regulations listed below:
The clint must appear before the consul to verify their identity when canceling the Power of attorney.
Bring the original (national identification card, electronic personal identification photocopy, or registration photocopy 57) along with photocopies.
The original Iraqi citizenship certificate and a color copy for the principal, provided that the personal photo is similar to the principal’s photo.
The original Iraqi citizenship certificate and a color copy (for the principal).
A color copy of the Power of attorney to be canceled.
Three (3) recent personal photos of the clint (2 x 2 with a white background).
The full address of the agent to be canceled.
Financial fees ($1) one US dollar (cash only).
Notes:
Fees are paid in cash only.
If the applicant has a national identification card, this does not require a civil status ID and an Iraqi citizenship certificate.
The Power of attorney (of all types) is cancelled in the case of the death of one of the parties.
