Ambassador Sadiq Al-Rikabi Participates In The Meeting Of The Delegation For Relations With Iraq In The European Parliament

Ambassador Sadiq Al-Rikabi participated in the meeting of the  Delegation for relations with Iraq in the European Parliament, which was devoted to discuss Iraq’s foreign relations, especially with neighboring countries,

The meeting was chaired by his Excellency MEP (Domènec Ruiz Devesa) chair  of Delegation for relations with Iraq  in European Parliament  in the presence of a number of European officials  With the participation of Dr. Walter Bush, a researcher at the National Defense Academy / Austria, who gave a presentation on Iraq’s foreign relations with neighboring countries after 2003, and the challenges it faces from a European point of view.

In his intervention, Ambassador Al-Rikabi stressed the importance of Iraqi-European relations, and Iraq’s desire to strengthen and develop these relations in all fields and with regard to the issue of Iraq’s foreign policy and its relations with neighboring countries, he indicate that Iraq inherited complex problems with its neighbors from the era of the former regime and is still  working on finding compromises  for these problems. and stressed  that Iraq proceeds in its relations with its neighbors from the principle Good neighborly relations and non-interference in internal affairs, and that Iraq is currently playing a role in calming tensions  between regional players, in order to bring  peace to  the region

At the end of his intervention, Ambassador Al-Rikabi called on the European Union to play a more positive role in terms of preventing Turkish interference in Iraq, and called for the comprehensive European Union’s policy towards Turkish interventions to include the Middle East, especially Iraq, in addition to the Eastern Mediterranean region, which also suffers from Turkey’s policies.
