Ambassador Sadiq AL-Rikabi meets the Director of Middle East and North Africa Department in the EEAS

Ambassador Sadiq Al-Rikabi/ Head of the Iraqi Mission to the European Union held a virtual meeting with Mr.Fernando Gentlini the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department in the EEAS

During the meeting the two sides discussed the latest developments in the region in light of the assumption of Mr.Biden to his role as the president of the United States.

Also discussed the cooperation between Iraq and EU, and the ongoing support of the EU to Iraq with the goal of achieving reconstructions and security and stability in the region.

 The latest developments of Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) between Iraq and EU, has also been discussed and agreed to set an action plan in order to hold the last subcommittee meeting of the Energy and Transportation, and thereafter to continue with Cooperation and the Council committee meetings.

Both Ambassador Al Rikabi and Mr. Gentlini were pleased with the   success of holding the previous subcommittees meetings last year despite outbreak of the corona pandemic.

Mr. Gentlini also expressed his admiration by the historical visit of the Pope to Iraq, and stated that all the European people had followed the media coverage of this historical visit.
