The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Brussels meets the Chair of the Committee on Relations with Iraq in the European Parliament
On Wednesday, 9/11/2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Brussels, Ahmed Tahsin Berwari, met with the Chairperson of the Committee on Relations with Iraq in the European Parliament, Swedish MP Sara SKYTTEDAL, at the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels.
During the meeting, they discussed prospects for cooperation between the two sides and ways to enhance the work of the Iraq Committee in the European Parliament in a manner that serves the development of bilateral relations and the implementation of mutual commitments in the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Iraq and the European Union.
The two sides discussed Iraq’s relations with its regional surroundings, and its position on developments on the international scene.
For her part, Mrs. SKYTTEDAL welcomed the Ambassador, wishing him success in his new mission as Iraq’s ambassador to the European Union, stressing her determination to strengthen cooperation between Iraq and the European Union and work to achieve the parliamentary visit that a European parliamentary delegation headed to Iraq to hold the seventh parliamentary meeting between Parliament European Parliament and the Iraqi Parliament.
In turn, the Ambassador stressed that the completion of the file of forming the new Iraqi government is a step in the right path, and a confirmation of the principle of peaceful transfer of power, noting that the priorities of the new government are to respect sovereignty and build balanced relations with regional and international actors, and to stay away from any axis of conflict, In addition to the government’s primary mission to advance the economic reality by carrying out radical economic reforms and combating corruption.
