The Foreign Minister Discusses with Deputy Secretary-General of NATO Prospects for Cooperation in Fields of Training Iraqi Force’s and Providing Advice

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with Mr. John Manza, Assistant Secretary-General for Operations at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

The two sides held a round of political talks, the Iraqi side was headed by Minister Fuad Hussein and the NATO side was chaired by the Assistant Secretary-General of NATO for Operations Mr. John Manza.

The two sides exchanged views on the role and tasks of NATO forces in Iraq, and prospects for cooperation in the areas of training Iraqi military forces, and providing advice to the security authorities in order to enable Iraq to eliminate Da’esh terrorist remnants.

The two sides stressed the importance of continuing consultations and coordination between specialists from both sides to discuss and define the priorities and needs of the Iraqi military and security institutions in a way that serves Iraq’s strategic interests and preserves its security and sovereignty.
