Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council in New York and Discuss a Number of Topics Related to Joint Arab Action
Minister of Foreign Affair, Mr Fuad Hussein, met the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council , Dr Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which is being held in New York. The two sides discussed means of enhancing the cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Republic of Iraq.
The Minister affirmed that the government is interested in developing the relations with the (GCC) countries at all levels, extending his thanks and appreciation to the Secretary General for the continuation of the hard work in the field of economic support and the connection of electricity that contribute to improving the conditions of the Iraqi people and advancing the Iraqi economy, stating: Iraq is a promising and secure investment environment, calling on companies to invest in Iraq’s infrastructure. The Minister also briefed the Secretary General on the latest developments of the Iraqi political situation, and the official political movement on the formation of the new government.
They discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, especially the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on food security, and the need to work collectively to confront the possible repercussions of the crisis in its various dimensions economically and socially.
On his part, Al-Hajraf affirmed the (GCC’s) support for the security and stability of Iraq, stressing the Gulf countries’ keenness to advance Gulf-Iraqi relations in the service of common interests.
