Minsiter of Foreign Affairs Meets US Special Envoy for Iran in New York
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein, has met the US Special Envoy for Iran, Mr Robert Malley, on the sidelines of the 77th session of UN General Assembly, which is being held in New York.
During the meeting, they discussed the political and security developments and their repercussions in the region, the status quo of the US-Iranian relations, and means of activating the exploratory dialogues that have been held previously. They also touched upon the ongoing negotiations in Vienna and the Five plus One countries.
The Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing stability and introducing opportunities and mechanisms for coordination, particularly as Iraq follows the principle of de-escalation and the consequent interests of all parties, and its repercussions on the security and peace in Iraq’s neighbouring countries and the region.
On his part, Mr Malley confirmed the importance of adhering to the proper progress of talk, expressing his thanks for the role played by Iraq in this field.
