Minister of Foreign Affairs Calls for Creating a path of dialogue in Light of Russian-Ukrainian War to Contain Growing Repercussions of the conflict at all Levels
Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Fuad Hussein called on the Arab Contact Group countries to create a path of dialogue in the light of the Russian-Ukrainian war to contain the growing repercussions of the conflict at all levels.
This came during his participation, on Sunday, June 5, 2022, in the meeting of the Arab Contact Group at the ministerial level on the crisis in Ukraine, which he called for earlier, as it was held via video conference, with the participation of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Dr Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the Foreign Ministers of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Democratic Republic of Algeria.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister thanked the General Secretariat of the Arab League and its Secretary General for responding to Iraq’s request to hold this meeting. He confirmed that the formation of the contact group had been based on realising the risks and repercussions of the war between Russia and Ukraine on the overall global situation, particularly in the areas of energy and food security, noting that the war has become more effective and complex in the region, given the increasing risks in many countries as a result of high energy prices and shortages in many types of supplies and their impact on various societies in the Middle East and North Africa.
In conclusion, the attendees commended the Iraq’s initiative to hold the meeting and study possible mechanisms to activate the proposal.
