The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs receives a copy of the credentials of the New Greek ambassador to Iraq
The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received a copy of the credentials of Mr. Georgios Almanos, the new Ambassador of Greece to Iraq, and then they discussed the relations between Baghdad and Athens, and ways to upgrade them to what meets the aspirations of both peoples.
The Minister expressed his aspiration to develop economic cooperation, especially in the field of port management, in addition to providing services to tourists, because the future of the tourism sector is promising in Iraq, calling on Greek companies to invest in Iraq, especially in infrastructure reconstruction projects.
For his part, the Greek Ambassador, Mr. Georgios Almanos, expressed his country’s keenness to raise the level of relations and deepen joint cooperation, including conducting political consultations and signing a memorandum of understanding between the Investment Authority and the concerned Greek authorities, stressing that there are large companies with extensive practical experience in the tourism sector from the private sector. It is ready to enter the Iraqi market, wishing Iraq success in hosting the Forum of Ancient Civilizations with the participation of ten Arab and foreign countries, which will be held in Baghdad on 12/4/2022. The Ambassador stressed the importance of holding such forums that contribute to preserving the common interests of peoples, and that the Minister of Culture Greek will represent Greece in the work of the forum.
