Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meets His German Counterpart, and Confirms the need to enhance the Relations between Baghdad and Berlin
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein, has met German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms Annalena Baerbock, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly which is being held in New York.
During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and prospects of enhancing them to serve the interests of two friendly countries.
The Minister expressed his thanks for Germany’s supporting stances to Iraq, pointing out “we reiterate our thanks to Germany; for standing by Iraq, supporting us in our war against ISIS, supporting us in the United Nations, providing us humanitarian aid, and logistical support to the security forces”. Adding: “Iraq is still needs your support, as you have experience in the reconstruction of your cities that were destroyed by war, in addition to your experience in the field of economic advancement. We express Iraq’s affirmation to upgrade the relations between the two countries to higher levels, and we hope to open multiple prospects in the field of economic, trade and energy cooperation, and ways to confront the repercussions of climate change between the two countries”, confirming the need for security and intelligence coordination, especially in the field of combating terror and eliminating its intellectual incubators.
On her part, Ms Annalena Baerbock expressed the importance of developing the bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields, adding that Berlin affirms its commitment to supporting Iraq at all levels.
