Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets His Canadian Counterpart in New York
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein, has met the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms Melanie Joly, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, which is being held in New York.
During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Ottawa, and ways of cooperation in various fields. the Minister confirmed the importance of realising the partnership between Iraq and Canada, appreciating Canada’s efforts within the international coalition to combat (ISIS)
Minister Fuad Hussein touched on the internal situation and the movement of political powers in order to reach common solutions to hold a session of the Council of Representatives in the coming days aiming at forming a government.
The two Ministers also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, emphasizing the need to reduce the tension and the realisation of pacification in the region, and avoid escalation which serves no one.
On her part, Ms Melanie expressed her country’s support for Iraq’s efforts, in the realization security and stability, affirming the continuation of cooperation between the two countries, de-escalation.
