Foreign Minister Meets with Swedish Parliament Speaker and Chairman of Foreign Relations Committee
Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Swedish Parliament Speaker Mr. Andreas Norlén . The Minister stressed Iraq’s interest in expanding trade and economic cooperation with the Swedish side, calling for continuous communication between the two countries through official visits, particularly between the Iraqi and Swedish parliaments for the interest of the two countries.
The meeting comes to express keenness to maintain high-level contacts between the two countries strengthen established relations, consult on how to deal with various issues and regional challenges that Iraq requires sustainable solutions for promoting its stability in the region.
Minister Alhakim stressed the importance of strengthening the bilateral relations through the diversification of the framework of consultation and joint cooperation, thus contributing to the achievement of security and stability in the region, expressing the aspiration of Baghdad to continue and increase Sweden’s support for the overall various levels of political, economic, developmental and social efforts.
Minister Alhakim revealed that the government is moving to create an environment attractive to foreign investment, and provide ways to develop investment opportunities for foreign companies to invest in Iraq.
On his part Mr. Andreas Norlén Speaker of the Swedish Parliament stressed the strategic importance of Iraq, and that the administration of his country is keen to advance bilateral cooperation with Baghdad in various fields, pointing to the need to strengthen economic cooperation frameworks between the two sides; to contribute to encourage more investors from Sweden to move towards Iraq.
