Foreign Minister Calls his Chinese Counterpart and Expresses his Appreciation for Beijing’s Support to Iraq
Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim stated that Iraq is keen to hold the best relations with China, and to raise prospects for cooperation to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
This came in a phone call made by Minister Alhakim with Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Wang Yi.
Minister Alhakim expressed his thanks and appreciation for Beijing’s stances in support of Iraq, the latest of which was the dispatch of the Chinese government medical supplies, and a medical team specialized in the field of confronting Coronavirus, and expressed his wishes that China overcome this ordeal by combating the epidemic and eliminating it completely, and invited his counterpart to visit Iraq within the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries.
On his part, the Chinese Foreign Minister affirmed that Iraq is a friend and a strategic partner, praising Baghdad’s stances in support of China in international forums which include supporting their candidate for membership in the Human Rights Council, and supporting a candidate for the position of Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation, and stated China’s position in support of the unity and sovereignty of Iraq, and the refusal of his country’s government for Iraq to be a battleground for proxy wars, expressing his aspiration to visit Baghdad.
