Foreign Minister Meets with Secretary-General of the League of Arab States

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States on the sidelines of the Arab League Council meeting at the Ministerial Level / in its regular 153 session. During the meeting they discussed ways to enhance joint Arab action, and unify efforts towards serving the issues of our Arab nation.

Minister Alhakim praised the support that Iraq received during its presidency of the Council of the League of Arab States, expressing his hope that the coming days will witness qualitative success reflected in achieving the aspirations of the Arab countries.

Minister Alhakim noted that the League of Arab States should make more efforts to resolve the crises suffered by Arab countries, within the framework of stabilizing the Arab Homeland in its comprehensive concept and under the umbrella of the League of Arab States.

On his part, the Secretary General praised the efforts of Iraq and that of Minister Alhakim in conducting the sessions, while stressing the importance of the meetings that were held in the period of Iraq’s presidency of the Council, particularly the session on the Palestinian issue, and the important decisions and positions issued in this regard that the League will work to support in the future.
