The Chargé d’affairs of Embassy of Republic of Iraq to Manila Meets the UN Special Rapporteur

The Chargé d’Affaires Mr. Khalil Jundi Rasho met at the embassy headquarters with Ms. Cecilia Jimenez-Damary, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons.

The two sides discussed the displaced Iraqis living in camps that lack the most basic necessities for decent living in snow and cold weather.

Mr. Khalil called on the United Nations to play its role, to cooperate with the Iraqi authorities concerned with assisting the displaced to find a solution for their return to their areas of residence.

On her part, Mrs. Cecilia promised to visit Iraq soon, meet with Iraqi officials in Baghdad, and visit Erbil to learn about the conditions of the displaced in the camps.
