Ambassador of Republic of Iraq to Brussels Attends Committee on Relations with Iraq in European Parliament

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Brussels Mr. Sadiq Al-Rikabi attended a meeting with the Committee on Relations with Iraq in the European Parliament to discuss the latest developments in the situation in Iraq and the region.

During the meeting, several files were discussed, including: prospects for cooperation between the two sides within the partnership and cooperation agreement, and the role of the Iraq Committee in promoting this cooperation.

Ambassador Al-Rikabi confirmed the legitimacy of the demands of the demonstrators, and expressed his regret over the fall of martyrs of the demonstrators and the security forces, stressing that these demonstrations and the results that followed confirms the democratic approach that Iraq is adopting, and that the new political system despite all the surrounding conditions of the country is an effective system that enables the people to reform the constitution and political process.

The Ambassador expressed Iraq’s need for serious European support in the political, economic and institutional fields.
