Foreign Minister Phones his Iranian Counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif
Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif. The two sides discussed the latest developments in the Iraqi situation and the attack on the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Najaf by unidentified persons who entered among peaceful protesters.
Minister Alhakim expressed his regret for what happened, considering
that this criminal act will not pass without holding the persons who carried it out and that the security authorities are conducting their investigations in order to reach the perpetrators, and stressed the Government’s keenness to provide a stable security situation for all diplomatic missions operating in Iraq.
Minister Alhakim also stressed Baghdad’s adherence to strategic relations with Tehran and its aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations by expanding the circle of cooperation to achieve common interests between the two countries; and serve the two friendly peoples.
