Undersecretary for Political Planning Receives New Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iraq
Ambassador Dr. Hisham Al Alawi, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Planning, met in his office the new Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Iraq, Mr. Hassan Mohammed Al Zaman on January 13, 2025.
During the meeting Undersecretary Al Alawi referred to the Ministry’s most prominent activities that were held during the past year, including celebrating 100th anniversary of the Foreign Ministry establishment, which received wide favorable impressions from representatives of the invited countries. In addition, the Undersecretary touched on organizing the Conference of Ambassadors and the graduation ceremony for the Diplomatic Course No 28, stressing the importance of expanding cooperation between the Iraqi Foreign Service Institute and its Kuwaiti counterpart, by organizing joint training courses and workshops, and providing the opportunity for new Iraqi diplomats from the students of Course (28) to view familiarize themselves with files related to bilateral relations between the two countries.
Additionally, Undersecretary Al Alawi pointed out to the joint cooperation between the Foreign Service Institute and diplomatic institutes in a number of countries, including the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, such as Qatar, Bahrain, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Ambassador Al Zaman expressed his welcome and his country’s readiness to cooperate in this area and other areas as well.
The two sides also discussed the importance of activating the work of the joint committees, with the need to continue holding high-level meetings to follow up on issues of common concern between the two countries.
Dr. Al Alawi touched on the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries regarding the visa exemption of holders of diplomatic passports, stressing the importance of including holders of service passports as well, as same to similar memorandums of understanding signed between Iraq and a number of Arab and regional countries.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of facilitating travel procedures for Iraqis willing to visit the sisterly State of Kuwait for tourism purposes, and enhancing the exchange of visits between the two brotherly peoples.
