Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Discusses Enhancing Cooperation with European Union
Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations Mr. Mohammad Hussein Bahr Aloolum received the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq Mr. Thomas Seiler, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
During the meeting they discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the European Union, and ways to enhance the partnership within the framework of the cooperation and partnership agreement signed between the two sides, including various development and economic areas.
Undersecretary Bahr Aloolum confirmed the important role of the European Union in supporting Iraq, stressing the need to enhance joint cooperation in a way that serves mutual interests and contributes to enhancing stability and development.
On his part, Ambassador Thomas Seiler expressed the European Union’s commitment to continue providing support to Iraq especially in the field of funding for sustainable solutions for the displaced, and stressed the Union’s keenness to expand the horizons of cooperation with Iraq across various fields.
The meeting ended with agreeing on continuing joint coordination between the two sides, with the aim of achieving tangible progress in bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation on issues of common concern.
