Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Discusses with his French Counterpart Efforts to Combat Da’esh and Developments in Syria
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received a phone call from French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot on 11 December 2024.
During the call the two ministers agreed on the importance of not allowing Da’esh to rebuild its strength and continue joint efforts to fight it in both Syria and Iraq, as well they emphasized on maintaining cooperation between the two countries on processes that enhance the security and stability of the region.
Additionally both parties discussed the situation in Syria from the security, military, and political aspects, stressing the importance of activating the UN process to achieve the comprehensive political process in Syria, affirming the need to ensure the participation of all components of the Syrian people and protect their rights.
The call also addressed the importance of continuing bilateral coordination between Iraq and France in this framework, in addition to communicating with influential countries and countries neighboring Syria, including Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and other Arab countries.
Furthermore they touched on the impact of the Syrian situation on Iraq and the countries of the region was, as well as the spreading of the implications of developments in Syria to surrounding countries.
