Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets his Qatari Counterpart to Discuss Crisis in Syria and Regional Developments

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum on December 7, 2025. 

The meeting dealt with the current challenges facing the region, as well the two ministers exchanged views on the seriousness and sensitivity of the situation in Syria and the severity of the possible implications.

The two sides stressed the importance of containing the Syrian crisis and freezing the fighting there with the need to resort to negotiation as a way to stop the bloodshed and end the humanitarian suffering of the Syrian people.

Additionally both ministers underlined that the continued military escalation may lead to unpredictable consequences that threaten the stability of all Syria’s neighbouring countries.

Furthermore the two parties agreed to continue following developments on the ground, and coordinating with other international and Arab partners to establish effective mechanisms that would stop the fighting and open pathways for political solutions that would ensure the end of the Syrian crisis.
