Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Meets Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular and Parliamentary Affairs
On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammad Hussein Bahr Aloolum, received the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Vahid Jalalzadeh, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad.
During the meeting the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing the importance of implementing the provisions of the agreements and memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries, especially those reached during the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Baghdad, the Undersecretary also stressed the need to address issues related to the Iraqi community residing in Iran, in a way that contributes to facilitating their daily affairs and enhancing cultural and social communication between the two countries.
On his part, the Iranian Deputy Minister stressed the importance of achieving security and stability in the region as the cornerstone for enhancing common interests between the two neighboring countries and their peoples, commending the ongoing cooperation between Baghdad and Tehran.
The meeting also touched on regional developments, as both sides welcomed the ceasefire in Lebanon and the return of residents to their areas, wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded, and stressing the importance of peaceful solutions that support the stability of the region.
This meeting comes within the framework of joint efforts to strengthen the partnership between Iraq and Iran, and intensify cooperation in political, economic, and consular areas.
