Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Meets Minister of Economy of Croatia Ante Šušnjar in Zagreb
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Croatian Minister of Economy Ante Šušnjar, at the Ministry of Economy headquarters in Zagreb, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
At the meeting Minister Fuad Hussein urged to encourage the Croatian companies to participate in economic activities in Iraq, indicating Iraq’s desire to enhance economic cooperation and increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, as well the Minister raised the possibility of organizing a joint economic forum to be held in Iraq or Croatia, with the forum’s aspects to be agreed upon in advance.
Furthermore, the Minister proposed establishing a joint higher economic committee that includes businessmen and investors from both countries, with the aim of enhancing economic cooperation and diversifying the sources of the Iraqi economy, stressing that Iraq needs Croatian companies to contribute to the rehabilitation of infrastructure, in addition to participating in the Development Road Project that Iraq seeks to implement.
On his part, the Croatian Minister of Economy welcomed the visit of the Iraqi delegation, expressing Croatia’s readiness to support Iraq in the field of infrastructure and provide the necessary expertise, in addition he indicated that Croatia has leading companies in this field, expressing his interest in presenting projects in the field of renewable energy.
With regard to the proposal to establish a joint higher economic committee, Minister Šušnjar stressed the importance of paving the way for this project by signing an economic agreement between the two sides, which would be the basis for forming this committee.
