Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Discusses Military and Security Cooperation with Croatian Minister of Defense
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein visited the headquarters of the Croatian Ministry of Defense in Zagreb, where he met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Mr. Ivan Anušić, on Wednesday October 23, 2024.
During the meeting Minister Fuad Hussein commended Croatia’s role in supporting Iraq during its war against terrorism, especially in confronting Da’esh terrorist organization, and appreciated Croatia’s participation in the NATO mission, through its training and advisory tasks provided to the Iraqi forces.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the military and security fields, in addition Minister Hussein underlined the importance of coordination with the Croatian Defense Ministry, through exchanging expertise and developing Iraqi defense capabilities, as well as cooperation in the field of mine clearance. The Minister also stressed the importance of exchanging visits between specialists from both countries to enhance this cooperation.
Additionally, Minister Hussein touched on the regional situation, warning of the threat of the conflict expansion in Gaza and Lebanon on the security and stability in the region, underlining the repercussions of this conflict on the global economy, the Minister called upon some European countries to cooperate with Iraq by receiving their citizens that are detained in Al Hol camp.
On his part, the Croatian Minister of Defense extended his thanks for Minister Hussein’s visits, praising the ability of the Iraqi security forces to defeat Da’esh, he also stressed his keenness to enhance coordination with Iraq, announcing his intention to make an official visit to Baghdad soon to meet with Iraqi Government officials and discuss military issues of common concern.
