Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets Arab Ambassadors in Croatia to Discuss Current Developments in Gaza and Lebanon

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with Arab Ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Croatia, on Monday, October 21, 2024. In the meeting the Minister reviewed the developments in the region and the repercussions of the war in Gaza and Lebanon, expressing his concern regarding the continuation of the war, stressing Iraq’s firm rejectionist stance of it, and pointing out that Iraq has suffered greatly from the scourge of wars.

The Minister indicated that the situation in Iraq is now stable and secure, and the Government is focusing on development and reconstruction through major construction projects. However, he warned that the ongoing war in the region could negatively affect not only Iraq, but also the global economy.

Furthermore, the Minister underlined Iraq’s support for initiatives seeking a ceasefire, such as the Qatari-Egyptian-American initiative, stressing that Iraq strongly supports every effort aimed at ending the conflict and stopping the escalation. 

The Minister extended his thanks to the Arab Ambassadors for their role in supporting diplomatic moves against the war, stressing that ending the war enhances the security and stability of all countries in the region.
