Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Meets Arab Ambassadors Accredited to Prague
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the Arab Ambassadors accredited to Prague, on Friday, October 18, 2024.
The meeting highlighted the history of the Iraqi-Czech relations, in addition to Iraq’s foreign policy orientations which aims to strengthen ties and overcome differences.
The Minister touched on the outcomes of his meetings with the officials of Czech Republic, as part of his official visit that focused on bilateral cooperation and enhancing relations between the two friendly countries.
The Minister indicated that the conditions in Iraq since 2017, marked an important turning point, after the restoration of security and the return of stability, Minister Hussein pointed out that Iraq started to focus on reconstruction and stimulating economic growth ever since, additionally the Minister touched on the financial reforms that the government seeks to achieve, with the aim of achieving social justice and integrating the Iraqi economy into the global market.
Furthermore, the Minister praised the religious and ethnic diversity that characterizes Iraqi society, pointing at the same time to the major challenges facing the country, especially security challenges, affirming that Iraq’s security is closely linked to the security of the region, emphasizing that Iraq’s policy is based on strengthening relations of good neighborliness and building positive relations with neighboring countries. The Minister also indicated that Iraq believes in dialogue and rejects wars, du to its suffering as a result of those wars, adding that Iraq’s policy is dependent on the democratic system and seeks to consolidate consensual democracy.
With regard to regional and international developments, the Minister addressed the repercussions of the war on Gaza and Lebanon, warning that the continuation of the war in Gaza could lead to the outbreak of other wars in the region, as happened in Lebanon, outlining that the expansion of the scope of conflict could worsen the situation, and lead to more severe conflicts in the region.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister extended his thanks to the Arab Ambassadors for their efforts in supporting diplomatic moves, stressing that ending the war is in the interest of the security and stability of all countries of the region.
