Head of Europe Department Meets Croatian Ambassador in Baghdad
The Head of Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Bakr Ahmed Al Jaff received the Croatian Ambassador to Baghdad Mr. Ivan Jurić, at the Ministry’s headquarters. The meeting discussed the latest regional developments especially the aggression by the Israeli entity against both Gaza and Lebanon, in addition to the ongoing violations of international and humanitarian law. During the meeting Ambassador Al Jaff, stressed Iraq’s firm stance in supporting the Palestinian cause and Lebanon, with reference to providing the necessary humanitarian assistance.
The two sides also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries across various fields, including encouraging the Croatian companies to participate in the reconstruction projects, as Ambassador Al Jaff indicated that Iraq is currently witnessing a large-scale reconstruction campaign that includes the capital, Baghdad, and several governorates, which provides additional opportunities to enhance economic cooperation. Furthermore, both parties agreed on the importance of increasing trade exchange between the two countries by activating the role of the private sector, intensifying cooperation between chambers of commerce, and organizing mutual visits by businessmen to enhance economic partnerships.
On his part, the Croatian Ambassador commended Iraq’s efforts in developing bilateral relations, stressing his commitment to supporting and strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the two countries across various fields.
