Statement

The Foreign Ministry condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli entity attack, that targeted the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon UNIFIL, and resulted in the injury of several Peacekeepers. 

‎The Ministry affirms that this aggression which is committed by the occupation forces, constitutes a blatant violation of the international humanitarian law, and undermines international efforts aimed at achieving security and stabilizing the region. The Ministry stresses the importance of providing full protection to all members of peacekeeping forces , especially in these extremely difficult circumstances.

‎Additionally, the Ministry calls for an immediate ceasefire, and calls on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities to ensure respect for international law, protect peacekeeping forces, and prevent the recurrence of such attacks. As well the Ministry renews the solidarity of the Republic of Iraq with our brothers in Lebanon against the continuation of this savage aggressions targeting civilians and infrastructure.
