Foreign Ministry Announces the Release of a kidnapped Yazidi through Joint Efforts

The Foreign Ministry announces the receiving of the kidnapped Yazidi girl Fawzia Amin Sido, who was released through joint efforts between the Foreign Ministry and the National Intelligence Service, and in high coordination with the U.S. embassies in Baghdad and Amman, and the Jordanian authorities, after efforts and follow-up that lasted for more than four months.

The kidnapped girl, who is 21 years old and comes from Al Adnaniyah complex in Al-Qahtaniyah district, was kidnapped by members of Da’esh terrorist organization, and was transferred to several countries before her liberation yesterday, with direct coordination and supervision of His Excellency the Foreign Minister in cooperation with the aforementioned concerned authorities.

The girl was handed over to her family this evening after her return to Iraq.

The Foreign Ministry confirms that it will make every effort to ensure the liberation of all kidnapped girls, whether Yazidis or other components who were transferred outside Iraq. It also seeks to seriously contribute to the national effort aimed at rehabilitation and integration into society, and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
