Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets his Indonesian Counterpart on Sidelines of UN General Assembly’s Meetings

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Indonesian Foreign Minister Ms. Retno Marsudi on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly, on 23 September. 

Minister Fuad Hussein congratulated Minister Marsudi on her appointment as Special Envoy on Water to the United Nations, stressing Iraq’s full support for the success of her UN missions.

The meeting highlighted the importance of bilateral ties between both countries, as well  the two sides discussed preparations for holding the meetings of the Iraqi-Indonesian Joint Committee soon in Baghdad.

The two Ministers discussed the political conditions of mutual concern, most notably the position on the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories, as well as the recent developments in Lebanon and their repercussions, and stressing the need for an Islamic and international position to stop this aggression.
