Iraq to Host 2026 OIC Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Baghdad
Upon the directive of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, the Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Mr. Mohammad Samir Al Naqshbandi submitted Iraq request to host the 52nd Ministerial Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization for the year 2026, during the 50th session held in Yaoundé, Cameroon
The Council of Foreign Ministers welcomed this initiative, which was included in the Council 50th session report. It is worth recalling that Iraq last hosted this meeting in 1981. As well the hosting of the 52nd session within the Arab group, comes according to the principle of rotation between the regional groups in the OIC, which constitutes an important opportunity for Iraq to affirm its position in the Islamic world and support joint Islamic action.
