Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Italian Ambassador to Mark end of his Tenure in Baghdad
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the Italian Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Maurizio Greganti to mark the end of his tenure in Baghdad, on Tuesday August 20, 2024.
The Minister commended the Ambassador’s efforts during his tenure in Iraq, noting his effective role in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, as well Minister Hussein wished Ambassador Greganti success in his future endeavors, stressing the need to further advance the horizons of cooperation across various political and economic fields to achieve the common interests of the two friendly countries.
During the meeting the two sides discussed the latest security and political developments in Iraq and the region, and their impact on the economic aspect. Additionally they agreed to set a date for convening a bilateral meeting between the Iraqi Foreign Minister and his Italian counterpart in New York, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly scheduled to be held next September.
On his part the Italian Ambassador affirmed his country’s commitment to support the sovereignty and stability of Iraq, and strengthen bilateral relations across various fields to achieve greater mutual cooperation.
