Head of International Organizations and Conferences Department Receives Brazilian Ambassador to Iraq

On Sunday, July 28, 2024, the Acting Head of the International Organizations and Conferences Department Dr. Fadel Al Rahim received the Brazilian Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Luis Ivaldo Santos, at the Ministry’s headquarters. As part of the meeting several issues on the agenda of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) were discussed, in addition to exchanging views on the current preparations for (COP29) Conference of Parties in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to be held later this year in Azerbaijan, Baku.

Mr. Al Rahim stressed the Iraqi government’s keenness to activate multilateral cooperation in accordance with the principle of common and differentiated responsibility with all international actors to mitigate the serious repercussions of climate change and preserve environmental balance and biodiversity.

On his part, Ambassador Santos, affirmed his country’s keenness to exchange views with Iraq to strengthen joint cooperation ties, especially at the level of coordinating positions on a number of issues raised in multilateral forums.
