Undersecretary for Policy Planning Receives Turkish Ambassador in Baghdad
Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Policy Planning Ambassador Dr. Hisham Al Alawi, received Turkish Ambassador in Baghdad Mr. Anil Bora Inan at his office on July 18, 2024.
The meeting discussed further advancing bilateral ties in accordance with relations of good neighborliness, as Undersecretary Al Alawi affirmed the interest of the Ministry leadership to achieve the government’s program priorities including enhancing relations with neighboring countries, indicating the importance of intensifying dialogue and coordination between relevant institution on issues of priorities for both countries, especially in the security field, underlining that unilateral solutions don’t serve bilateral relations.
Undersecretary Al Alawi called on the Turkish side to build economic fruitful partnerships to develop agriculture, industrial, tourist, finance sectors, and to implement what was agreed upon in the MOUs signed on 2014 and 2024, regarding water releases in Tigress and Euphrates into concert figures
On his part Ambassador Inan stressed that his country attaches special importance to Iraq, highlighting turkey’s commitment to Iraq’s unity and territorial sovereignty and border security, in addition to the importance of cooperating and coordinating to address the joint security concerns.
At the end of the meeting emphasized was placed on continuation of constructive dialogue between both countries to enhance bilateral relations.
