Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Meets President of International Court of Justice in The Hague
Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bahr Al Ulum, met with the President of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Judge Nawaf Salam, who welcomed the visit of the Undersecretary, and presented a summary of the court role, which is the judicial arm of the United Nations, underlining its contribution in resolving international disputes through peaceful means.
On his part Undersecretary Bahr Al Ulum, assured the Iraqi Government’s support for the efforts of the United Nations to achieve international peace and security through its various agencies, including the International Court of Justice. He praised the court’s decisions and its role in establishing world peace, indicating the positive developments achieved by Iraq in the field of justice and enforcing the rule of law.
Additionally, the Undersecretary conveyed an invitation from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, to the President of the Court to visit the Republic of Iraq. Judge Nawaf Salam welcomed the invitation, expressing his appreciation for Iraq and its people.
At the end of the meeting, the Undersecretary wished the President of the Court success in performing his duties.
