Undersecretary for Political Planning Receives Iraq’s Climate Envoy

Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Planning Ambassador Dr. Hisham Al Alawi, received the Climate Envoy of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Fareed Yasseen.

During the seminar which was held at the Foreign Service Institute with the attendance of a number of employees of the concerned departments, Ambassador Yasseen gave a lecture entitled “The impact of climate change on the future of Iraq”, in which he reviewed the effects of climate change on health, economy and the security sectors, stressing that the current government is prioritizing the issue of mitigating the negative effects of climate change and adapting to its results, stressing the importance of strengthening the role of the Foreign Ministry in managing negotiations with regional and international agencies given the specificity of the climate file, and its association with foreign policy.

At the end of the lecture Dr. Yasseen, answered the questions of the attendees, stressing his full readiness to cooperate with the Foreign Ministry in this field.
