Head Of Europe Department Meets Ambassador of Helsinki Policy Forum and Finnish Ambassador to Iraq
On April 28, Head of Europe Department Ambassador Haider Al Athari, met with the Ambassador of Helsinki Policy Forum Ms. Kirsika Lehto Asikainen, and Ambassador of Finland to Iraq Ms. Anu Saarela, at the Ministry’s headquarters. During the meeting, they discussed ways of developing bilateral relations between the two countries across various economic, political and commercial fields, in addition to Iraq’s participation in the Helsinki Policy Forum, given the great importance of this forum representing a platform for exchanging views on recent developments in the Middle East, Ambassador Al Athari stressed Iraq’s firm stance towards the Palestinian issue and the recent events in Gaza, and the pivotal role played by Iraq and the quest for security and stability in the region.
They also touched on the fourth Baghdad Water Conference currently being held, which sheds the light on the water reality in Iraq and the challenges it faces. Ambassador Al Athari praised the active participation of the Finnish delegation in the aforementioned conference, which will enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of environment and water, and support the climate change in Iraq.
