Undersecretary for Multilateral and Legal Affairs Participates in High-level Side Event on Situation of Human Rights in Occupied Palestinian Territories in Geneva

The Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Multilateral and Legal Affairs Mr. Omer Al Berzinji, participated in the high-level side event on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, organized by Palestine, on Monday, February 26, 2024, on the sidelines of Iraq’s participation in the High-level Segment of the 55th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

During the event, Undersecretary Al Berzinji, renewed Iraq’s full support for the brotherly Palestinian people against the ongoing aggression they are facing, stressing the necessity of stopping the violations targeting civilians, and worke to deliver humanitarian aid, as well as consolidating efforts aimed at an immediate ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional entry of aid to the Gaza Strip to save them from the threat of genocide.

Mr. Al Berzinji, also expressed deep concern regarding the worsening of humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to take immediate international measures to stop the ongoing violations for human rights and international humanitarian law, in addition to the inhumane practices of the occupying entity towards innocent civilians, which resulted in the martyrdom of more than thirty thousand Palestinians, mostly women and children.
